Worth more than the sum of its parts…

In the early 1900s, the White Rhino was on the brink of extinction with less than 50 animals remaining in South Africa. The largest reason for population declines is due to poaching and illegal wildlife trafficking of rhino horns. Thanks to extensive conservation efforts supported by zoos, White Rhinos have since recovered to over 18,000 individuals. The recovery of White Rhinos from the brink of extinction is an example of how conservation practices can work to help save all 5 species of rhinos, most of which are critically endangered.
